To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the creation of Batman, DC Comics has offically deemed July 23rd, 2014 as National Batman Day, a celebration of all things Dark Knight that includes the distribution of free Batman comic books and the kick-off of the always hotly-anticipated San Diego Comic-Con!
Batman always has been and always will be my favorite comic book character, and even fictional character for that matter, so much so that when I first started The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews in late 2010, I turned to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight as the perfect movie to launch my review series. The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews has evolved quite substantially over its relatively short run and to pay tribute to The Dark Knight being my first movie review, every tenth episode of The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews has since been a look into a different piece of Batman history.
The tenth episode was a look at Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, an amazing and stylish movie tie-in to the classic cartoon show, Batman: The Animated Series. Then in episode 20, I spent nearly 90 minutes gushing over the classic 1966 Batman TV series starring Adam West and Burt Ward while focusing mainly on the 1966 film that was released during the summer between the show's first two seasons.
Thankfully, the complete 1966 series will FINALLY be released on DVD and Blu-ray in November of this year and I, for one, can't wait! So, to celebrate National Batman Day, I've provided a quick and simple way to enjoy my three previous Batman-related reviews for any of you who haven't checked them out yet! Rest assured that when episode 30 comes around, it'll be my biggest Batman review yet, but in the meantime, it's time to head to the Batcave and enjoy this celebration of the Caped Crusader as only The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews can!
