The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews: My Top 10 Christmas TV Specials

Ring in the holiday season with The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews, but in this special Christmas episode, I take a winter vacation from movie reviewing to look at my top-ten Yule-tide TV specials.  And unlike most top ten lists out there that follow the standard countdown format, I step out of that tired tradition by simply revealing each special in order of their debut, creating a unique Christmas experience where you get ten spirited DVD and/or Blu-ray reviews for the price of, well, nothing!  You must’ve been good this year.

The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews: Batman The 1966 Movie

In the monumental twentieth episode of The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews, we'll celebrate the lighter side of The Dark Knight by delving deep into the 1966 Batman movie starring Adam West and Burt Ward as the Dynamic Duo.  One can't do this film justice, though, without giving full insight into the classic TV series that the film was tied in with and to fully appreciate this more comedic take on Batman and Robin, I'll also discuss the dire state of comic books at the time.  I'll then reveal some additional DVD titles that no 60's Bat-fan should be without.  We probably wouldn't have the Batman we know and love today if it wasn't for this TV show and movie, so sit back and enjoy the full (and long) story behind the phenomenon that made Batman a pop culture staple.  The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews is hosted by David Rose.

The Dark Knight Rises (Batman 1966 Style)

At long last, a new episode of HD Make-Overs is here, although, it may look a bit familiar.  After my previous mash-up of 2008's The Dark Knight with the classic 1966 Batman TV series, it only seemed right to follow it up with the release of the amazing sequel, The Dark Knight Rises.  Hopefully, with all the real-world tragedy and darkness that has unfortunately consumed this film, this can shed a little light on things.  Enjoy!

Introducing The DVD Shelf Mini Reviews!

I hope you’ve all been enjoying my first 13 episodes of The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews so far.  It’s been a blast making them, but I do realize that they tend to run a bit long.  20-30 minutes can be an eternity when it comes to sitting at your computer watching an internet show.  So, for those of you without much time to spare, welcome to The DVD Shelf Mini Reviews, where I review a movie’s DVD or Blu-Ray in just 90 seconds.  In this premiere episode, I won’t be reviewing a movie, but I will be taking 90 seconds to give a little introduction to my new series, then I’ll begin reviewing films starting with episode 2.  Don’t worry, though, because my next full-length DVD Shelf Movie Review is also on its way!

The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews: Christopher Nolan's Following

In this episode, we’ll be taking a look at the very first film from director Christopher Nolan, Following – a black and white thriller that set the stage for his later hit films including Memento, The Dark Knight, and Inception.  And if this episode seems a little bizarre, don’t adjust your monitors - I’ve just barrowed some of Nolan’s signature time manipulation tricks to help tell his story.  The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews is hosted by David Rose.  All this and more at your online destination where movies are celebrated, not incinerated!

The DVD Shelf Movie Reviews is hosted by David A. Rose.  All this and more at your online destination where movies are celebrated, not incinerated!
